On Saturday August 25th at 7pm, the Bedford Playhouse will be screening the drama First Reformed starring Ethan Hawke and Amanda Seyfried. Following the film there will be a Q & A session with the films writer and director, Paul Schrader. This will be a very special evening.
Paul Schrader has a long and distinguished film career starting in the 1970s. He has written or co-written numerous screenplays including Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and The Last Temptation of Christ (all directed by Martin Scorsese). During his career he has directed 18 feature films including American Gigolo, Affliction, and his latest film First Reformed.
The film released in 2017 and follows a Protestant minister faced with questions of faith and morality while serving as pastor of a dwindling historical church and deals with some very heavy themes.
This should be a fascinating evening of cinema at the newly restored Bedford Playhouse. The film starts at 7pm
