Martin Barre, guitarist for Jethro Tull brings a special acoustic show to Edmond Town Hall on April 13th

Guitarist extraordinaire, Martin Barre is coming to Edmond Town Hall in Newtown on April 13th. Martin Barre is best known for his four plus decades of work as lead guitarist of Jethro Tull. Martin also is the leader of his own group, the Martin Barre Band since the 1990s. Jethro Tull is a Grammy award winning English rock/folk band that has sold over 60 million records worldwide.

His signature solo on the 1971 Jethro Tull standard “Aqualung” was voted by the readers of several guitar magazines as on of the best rock guitar solos in rock history. On this tour, the music of Jethro Tull and Martin’s solo work will be unplugged with no electric guitars. This will be a unique musical experience not to be missed.

If you have not been to the Edmond Town Hall, you are in for a fine evening of music. The theater is housed in a 1930s building, has great viewing from all seats, and the acoustics are excellent. There is plenty of free parking.

“The Weir”, ghost stories with an Irish twist on stage in Sleepy Hollow 3/14 and 3/15

Just in time for St. Patrick’s Day, an Irish play will be presented in Sleepy Hollow.  The play“The Weir”  is written by Conor McPherson in 1997. It was first produced at The Royal Court Theatre in London and has been presented around the world and off Broadway

The setting of the play is in a pub in Ireland.  At the pub a group of men gathered to drink and share supernatural stories with a newly arrived woman.  The title “weir” refers to a small dam on a local river. The Weir is a symbol of the isolation of their community, while the the ghost stories they tell is but a way to connect and reveal deeper truths about themselves in this quiet village.

The play is produced by Lovely Calamity Productions and the shows are on Friday March 14, and Saturday March 15th .  The play will be presented at Hudson Valley Writer’s Center  300 Riverside Dr. Sleepy Hollow, NY.
